Don't Panic...

Greetings.

My first tweet of the morning indicated that I was "feeling a lot like Arthur Dent sans towel today." For those of you who don't get it - FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GO AND PICK UP A COPY OF DOUGLAS ADAMS' THE HITCHHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY IMMEDIATELY!

I wrote the tweet because I just had this sense this morning when I woke up that something isn't quite right. Adams describes the sense beautifully and I'd like to quote him if you'll indulge me:

"All through my life I've had this strange unaccountable feeling that something was going on in the world, something big, even sinister, and no one would tell me what it was."
"No," said the old man, "that's just perfectly normal paranoia. Everyone in the Universe has that."

Also from The Hitchhiker's Guide...

"And then, one Thursday, nearly two thousand years after one man had been nailed to a tree for saying how great it would be to be nice to people for a change, one girl sitting on her own in a small cafe in Rickmansworth suddenly realized what it was that had been going wrong all this time, and she finally knew how the world could be made a good and happy place. This time it was right, it would work, and no one would have to get nailed to anything. "

Shortly after the girl had her revelation, the Earth was destroyed.

I don't know, man. I mean it just seems some days like we're never going to get our act together.

*** The irony here is too great not to post. The preceding was about half of a post about how we all just need to love one another and how if there is a God, he doesn't care at all about all of the silly distractions that consume us in our attempt to get to him, and that all he ever wanted for us was to love one another the way he loves us. I had it all beautifully worded, and everything, and then the Earth blew up. Ok, so the Earth didn't blow up, but Blogger's server farted and the rest of my post was destroyed. For fear of tempting fate, I'm just giving you the Reader's Digest version now.

I am the Reverend Humpy and I have approved this message.
