Greetings,
I know it's been a while, and this one won't be long, but I thought I'd take a moment to put a few things down that I'm thankful for.
I am thankful for my beautiful wife, whom I love and cherish with all of my heart. Her love and support for me make it easy for me to wake up each day - which is a lot more powerful than some of you may know.
I am thankful for my family, though I have a hard time spending time with them. I am especially thankful for my dad, who has become a better friend to me than I ever could have hoped for.
I am thankful for my house and my dog. They provide me with warmth and comfort.
I am thankful for music, and my ability to make it.
I am thankful for both of my bands. Vic, Bob, Nick, Jason, Tony, and Glen - making music with all of you guys brings indescribable joy into my life, and I am so very grateful that you all put up with me playing in both bands.
I am thankful for each and every one of my friends, with special thanks to Dave, Jenny, Joe, Dustin, Vic, and Duane. If your name wasn't mentioned there, please don't take it personally, it just means that we haven't had the opportunity to go through as much shit together yet. If you are my friend, I am thankful for you.
I am thankful for my income, and for my wife's income. I am not financially wealthy by any means, but my life is wonderfully blessed and I appreciate the jobs that my wife and I have that help to make it possible.
I am thankful for my opportunity to go back to school and get the degree which will allow me to make a living doing something I truly love to do.
Last but not least, as corny as it might sound, I am thankful to live in a country which, for all it's flaws gives me the freedom, the security, and the wealth that I so enjoy. We, as Americans, like to bitch and moan about what is wrong with this country, and a lot of other people like to overstate what is right about this country, but what I want to say is that here in the United States, we enjoy a quality of life that people in other parts of the world can't even imagine. I am grateful for that, and I am grateful for our system, flawed though it is, that it grants me the freedom to express all of my thoughts to all of you.
Please take some time this weekend, if you haven't already, and count the things you're grateful for. No matter how you feel, it will make you feel better.
I am the Reverend Humpy and I have approved this message.
