Band of the Week: Waylon Jennings - Song #3: Don't You Think This Outlaw Bit's Done Got Out of Hand?

Greetings.

How can you not love a song called "Don't You Think This Outlaw Bit's Done Got Out of Hand?" I love the lyrics to this song because they remind me of what Keith Richards and numerous other rock stars have said about this sort of thing. The whole bad-boy, rebel, outlaw image is great until you keep getting busted. Keith, in his autobiography, talks about cops always trying to push the limits by adding extra charges on him. Often it was for things that he never did, but if it weren't for the ridiculously high priced attorneys that the record labels hired, who would the judges have believed? There's this part of a fan base that wants to live vicariously through these reckless heroes they have. We think Willie, Waylon, Keith, Mick, whoever can get away with doing whatever they want to do - and the record companies and everybody else encourages these people to live up to those expectations. It's all well and good until the dung hits the fan... well, just listen to Waylon tell you about it:
