Some New Things...

Greetings.

Yesterday I posted some quotes that I like, and then I got to thinking about old songs that I've written that not many people have heard because I don't play them in any bands anymore. I thought that some of you might like them, so I am going to post some of the lyrics here every once in a while. Today's is called Cup of Niccotine:

Walk along the indigo skyline until your satisfied.
The night can be so comforting when all your joy has died
And the only thing that makes you smile is waiting in the middle of Hell
But this is the place, this nighttime, that you've come to know so well.

Put it all behind you. Take a hit of this caffeine.
Close your eyes and let it go. Sip a cup of nicotine.
They've take all they can from you. They can't push it anymore
And no one here inside will harm you.

Giggles of the disenchanted sail through smokey air
Walls with ears would laugh out loud at the stories they could share
And it hurts so much to turn your head just to move your ears away.
'Cause no one wants to listen to a word you've got to say.

Restless nights make longer days, days that never end.
And when the nighttime visits you, you've got nothing to spend.
So say goodbye to the ghost on the phone. She'll be back again someday.
And on that day you're hooked again - doesn't matter what you pay.

So there you have it. I wrote that one sometime around 1997. The background information is this: I was too young to go to bars, so my friends and I would spend a lot of time in restaurants like Denny's and Shari's drinking coffee and chain smoking. I was out of high school and working full time, but I lived with my parents, where there was constant chaos, and my relationship with my (then) fiance' was rapidly deteriorating. Going "to coffee" was one of my only refuges.

I am the Reverend Humpy and I have approved this message.
